Subject: The Wizard of Meme
So we've been tagged by Artful Dodger, in his blog Rants Raves Life and Anything Else That Comes. Instead of just having one of us randomly answer, or trying to do it as a big group, we've decided to answer them more round robin style. It calls for eight answers, but we're going to cheat and make it six.
“The first one is 'six bookish things about us'. Sara likes fantasy books, and just recently started reading the Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher.”
“I've only just started, so I can't say how good they are yet, but they were recommended to me by Ebonmuse at Daylight Atheism. As for Tabitha, she likes to read those trashy romance novels.”
“They're better than you think! It's a fun read. I don't see Frank read much, but he is very bookish about his poker. He takes notes and keeps stats on a lot of his playing.”
“It's a game of probability and numbers, and I want to make the right calls. I rarely see Billy read, but when I do it's always something different. I've seem him read things from one of Tabitha's trashy novels, to books by Issac Asimov.”
“I don't usually read at home, I'll read on the train after work or when I stop somewhere. I'll pretty much choose what to read by chance. If I need a book and it's sitting out, I'll borrow it. If something catches my eye at the store, I buy it. Scott doesn't really read, but what he does enjoy are little books that are funny. I know he likes The Meaning of Liff, by Douglas Adams, and those worse case scenario handbooks.”
“Yeah, I like to be able to pick up a book, flip to any page and read any part of it. I'll skip the obvious things about Ann and say that she really likes catalogs. She often flips through catalogs or weekly circulars with her lunch.”
“At least I don't buy a zillion things out of them.” Ann says, while looking at Sara.
“Next, '6 musical notes'. I don't know if this counts as musical, but the station Sara always has on the radio is 660AM, WFAN. She listens to sports talk and the crazy callers that have nothing better to do than scream over the radio.”
“Tabitha still has a cassette player in her room that she listens to.”
“Frank, like most poker players, always has his Ipod on when he's playing with real people. I was at Atlantic City with him once and picked up his Ipod to see what he was listening to. I was expecting some rock song or something, but he was listening to an audio book of 'The Hobbit'.”
“Well it's a good book. Billy used to play the violin in high school.”
“I was never that good at it though. Scott recently discovered this podcast called For Parody Purposes Only, by Mark Day. He's got a scottish accent and is actually very funny.”
“Yeah, you should all listen to him, whether it's on youtube, myspace or itunes. Ann likes to sing in the shower, she's actually pretty good as far as shower singers go.”
“What are you listening to me sing for? Stay on your side of the apartment!”
“Six things about us, boring plain regular uneventful things. Sara's father's name is Mitch. I think Mitch is a funny name. Wasn't Donna's father in That 70s Show named Mitch?”
“No. Her father was Bob. There was a character named Mitch that went to school with them, played by Seth Green, but I think that was only one episode. I don't know what you're thinking of. Tabitha's in the middle of getting her master's degree in psychology.”
“I certainly am. Frank makes a really good shoofly pie.”
“I love that pie. Billy has a sister that joined the circus.”
“She's always been a clown. We're not very close actually. Scott doesn't have his driver's license.”
“I've lived in Manhattan all my life. Ann's never seen the Wizard of Oz.”
“What?”
“Seriously?”
“I've got it in my room. We're watching it now.”
“If you insist, I'll go make some popcorn.”
